SOUTH VALLEY
Places: Tipon, Pikillacta and the Temple of Andahuaylillas
We will leave by bus to the south of Cusco, the first stop will be the archaeological center of Tipón, an Inca ceremonial center where through a stone channel the flow of water from the high summits of the Pachatusan hill to the lowlands of the valley was controlled.
We will continue to visit the Archaeological complex of Pikillacta which literally means "city of fleas", it is an old walled citadel of the Wari Empire, which was one of the most important regional centers of the Wari Culture in its expansion into the city of Cusco.
Finally, we will conclude the visit to the Temple of Andahuaylillas, also known as 'The Sistine of America', inside which is an impressive collection of Canvases with frames plated in gold and wall paintings, baroque altarpieces, and more. The tour ends in Cusco around 2:30 p.m.
Itinerary
- 09:00 hrs: Start of the tour.
- 09:40 hrs: Visit to the Tipón
- 11:20 hrs: Visit to the Archaeological Center of Pikillaqta.
- 12:45 hrs: Visit to the Sistine Chapel of Andahuaylillas.
- 15:30 hrs: Return to Cusco.
